Sacha created a soothing atmosphere and engaged with her audience at Non-Violence live, the simplicity of her performance commanded all eyes on her throughout her original single ‘ Sunshine in my pocket’. Lyrically referencing fluctuating mental health and beating the blues , Sacha wants her listeners to know “if you’ve lost your smile, you can have one of mine”- the pizzicato chords accompanied with Sacha’s rich harmonies inevitably filled the room with warmth and left the audience beaming, with a few smiles to spare. Holistically, ‘Sunshine in my pocket’ could easily be mistaken for Corinne Bailey Rae’s discography. Sacha flexes her song-writing skillset using the theme of smiles as currency in her hook “So if you ever need a little bit of sunshine, take a look in my pocket, I think you’ll like what you may find, a folded rainbow, right there in my wallet, with a coupon smile, just promise you won’t spend it all at once, there’s plenty more where that came from”. Not only wholesome but structurally creative and lyrically intelligent, Sacha delivers exactly what she aspired to achieve based on her first performance of the night.

As an advocate for mental health awareness, Sacha’s single ‘Live’ is a gentle reminder that everyone is going through some kind of turmoil and is a call to action to check on your strong friends, an all-too relevant message that resonated with the audience since the Covid-19 pandemic. Sacha’s vocal range and pop-jazz acoustic fusion produces a sound that could be likened to Joss Stone. Despite carrying a weighted message, ‘Live’ oozes coffee-shop lounge vibes and could easily make itself at home in stress busting Spotify curated playlist, the type you listen to as you study or work in peace. Next time you’re procrastinating or zoning out, ‘Live’ will transport you to a place where Sacha T’s music fixes all of your problems.

Swapping the guitar for a backing track, R&B style single ‘Young’ gives us a taste of Sacha’s views on the reality of responsibility and womanhood, obsessing with physical appearance, nostalgia and simplicity of childhood. The lyrics and melody combined bring an element of swagger and maturity to Sacha’s performance, akin to Jhene Aiko, she knows who she is as an adult and carries a stage presence to back it up. Rounding off her set with ‘Lazy’, Sacha serenaded the room connecting especially with her female listeners through her lyrics: not bothering with appearances and having a self-care day. The chords on piano, backing harmonies, drums and wandering baseline stacked with Sacha’s soulful voice create a rich, thick texture and create the perfect soundtrack to your Sunday Morning. Sacha has a laid back confidence and relates to her target audience which gives her immense likeability, giving a modern pop/R&B feel like JoJo or Kehlani, Sacha’s music belongs on the ultimate girls night in playlist amongst the big names like Chloe x Halle and has the same commerciality as Summer Walker and Doja Cat.
